What are the best foods to gain muscle and mass?
I work out regularly and am pretty fit/big but i was just wondering what kinds of specific foods are best to gain muscle and mass. If someone could list them i’d really appreciate it.
Meat. The red ones.
Look into the anabolic diet or carb cycling for the most muscle growth. Try eating at least 1.2 grams of protein a day per pound of body weight. Just know that if protein is your main intake for a macronutrient then you may end up buring off muscle instead of building.
What should I eat to gain muscle mass, and keep from gaining fat?

I really don’t want to use steroids, i already have build muscles, Just trying to make them more defined.

How can women gain weight by gaining muscle?
I have recently been trying to gain muscle in my arms and legs. I have always had a lifting regimen, but lately I have been lifting more weight and more reps as well as eating more protein. There isn’t really any affect – no weight gain of any kind or change in body shape. I am very tone and slim (4′11, 95 lbs, no noticable fatty deposits), but my arms and legs still look like sticks. The strange thing is, I am actually strong – can bench 140lbs, black belt in wushu (chinese martial art form), can do 160 lb leg press. What is going on with me?
I guess I should indicate, I am a 25 y/o, married, one child, hispanid/caucasian mix.
Not sure what your lifting regimen consists of but 3 sets of 8-12 reps with 1 minute between sets should be good. I’m not sure how you are feeling after your last set but you should just barely be finishing it. If you are trying to pack on muscle make sure you are getting 1 gram of protein for every pound you weigh. Hopefully you are doing at least two exercises from each muscle group Arms, Legs, Back, Chest & Ab with a day of rest in between exercise bouts.
If you are surprised you aren’t turning into a hulk it is because women lack the amount testosterone men have. Are you trying for size or definition or both? Also how much cardio are you doing? If you do too much you burn off muscle.

How to gain weight and gain muscle mass in a healthy way?
I am very bad trying to commit to gym, mainly because i dont know how to exercise right . I eat well , I dont call it eating healthy , or eating right , but i do not starve myself. Can anyone help with a daily routine , and how to eat right or what types of food to eat to gain muscle mass, and at the same time eat healthy ; Thanks
I always start my morning off with 6 servings of oatmeal. I don’t know what body type you have, but I am an ectomorph who can eat 24/7 and not gain weight. My metabolism is extremely fast so I do have to eat A LOT. 6 servings of oatmeal to me is like 1 serving to most.
I do not use weight gainer shakes because they are expensive and they are loaded up on sugar. Oatmeal IS my weight gainer shake. I also drink fat-free milk, eat chicken breast, egg whites, lots of fruits throughout the day.
The only exercises I do are deadlift, squat, and bench press. They are KING in building muscle mass especially for skinny people like me. Always seek help if you are not sure how to do them properly because you can easily get injured.
Monday – Deadlift
Wednesday – Bench Press
Friday – Squat
I do a lot of warm ups with light weights and slowly go up to my 5 rep max. After I do my 5 rep max then I am done. I used to believe I had to stay in the gym to do bicep curls for 2+ hours just like all the skinny guys in the gym. Keep your exercise program simple. If you don’t want to do it like me, you should at least focus on compound exercises such as, parallel dips, shoulder press, lunges, pull-ups, etc.
What sort of foods are best to gain muscle?
High protein is a duh, but should I use fat or carbs? How can you gain muscle without gaining any fat at the same time?
And if I get a bot (or whatever) recommending acai berry, I’m going to snap.
Whey is one of the best sources of food for gaining muscle — a high protein whey shake every morning is important to feed your muscles — add fresh or frozen berries.
Additional Sources for Protein
- Grilled Chicken Breast
- Lean Ground Turkey and turkey breast
- Venison, Elk
- Lean Cuts of Beef, extra lean ground beef
- Grilled Fish, scallops
- Low Fat Milk (1% or Skim), low fat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese,
- Unsalted Nuts, almonds, sunflower seeds
Best Sources for Carbohydrates
- Whole Wheat Bread, tortillas, and Bagels
- Fresh fruits (all berries are great for shakes) and vegetables (unlimited) avoid fruit juice because of the high sugar content
- Oatmeal
- Bran Muffins
- Rye Bread
- Sweet Potatoes
- Brown Rice
- Lentils and beans
Cut out all sugar and junk food.
You also want to gradually increase your weights — you need to increase the demands you impose on your body in order to make it bigger, stronger and leaner. Muscle will modify itself to meet the challenges and it will grow in proportion to the amount of work it is required to do.
The best methods to increase muscle are: Resistance, repetitions and increasing the work volume.

How should I work out to gain muscle size?
I’m 18 years old, have lifted some before but haven’t for about the past six months. I want to start again because I’ve lost any muscle size I once had. I’ve always had trouble gaining weight and am considering some type of protein supplement or even creatine. What type of workout plans/ supplements would be the best to gain muscle mass? I don’t wan’t to be HUGE because I’m a basketball player and I want to stay quick but I do want to gain solid mass.
Hey there man. I totally hear you. Most people have a problem gaining muscle, so it’s all good. There’s plenty of help to go around. First off, how is your nutrition? Nutrition is HUGE! If you’re not getting solid meals, you won’t get any solid gains. And no worries about not being TOO huge, that would never, ever happen all at once, lol. I’ve found the best site to get information on is: http://www.swolefitness.com/ – I found it just recently, but it has some awesome articles on it, and updates a ton. Anyways man, keep working!
